Robert Alai

Robert Alai Onyango is a Kenyan politician, blogger, and former digital activist who currently serves as the Member of the Nairobi City County Assembly (MCA) for Kileleshwa Ward, a position he has held since August 2022 after being elected on an ODM ticket. Before entering elective politics, Alai was widely known for his outspoken presence on social media, where he built a reputation as a sharp government critic and political commentator, a role that frequently placed him at the center of legal battles and public controversy. His transition from online activism to formal politics marked a shift toward grassroots representation, with a focus on county oversight, service delivery, and accountability within Nairobi City County. Blunt, confrontational, and unapologetic, Alai remains a polarizing figure—praised by supporters as fearless and condemned by critics as abrasive—but undeniably influential in Kenya’s contemporary political space.
