The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has confirmed that polling stations opened at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday and will close at 5:00 p.m. for the ongoing by-elections.
In a statement, the Commission assured voters that any time lost during polling will be compensated at closing. Kenyans still in the queue at 5:00 p.m. will be allowed to cast their ballots, ensuring every registered voter has the opportunity to participate.
Election officials urged voters to plan their visit to polling stations and follow all guidelines to facilitate a smooth voting process. IEBC emphasized that maintaining order and efficiency at polling stations is crucial for the credibility of the electoral process.
The by-elections, seen as a key indicator of political trends ahead of larger contests, are being closely monitored, with IEBC deploying staff and security to ensure all eligible citizens can exercise their democratic right without interruption.
