Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday hosted Peter Salasya at his Wamunyoro residence, adding momentum to his ongoing political consultations ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The meeting comes as Gachagua continues engaging political leaders, professionals, religious groups and other stakeholders in what he has described as consultations on the "liberation of the country" and the formation of the "6th Administration."

In a statement after the meeting, Gachagua described Salasya as a promising young leader whose future in national politics is bright.

"I was very delighted to receive my good friend, Hon. Peter Salasya, MP for Mumias East Constituency, who called on me today at Wamunyoro Residence," Gachagua said.

He praised the first-term legislator for his leadership qualities, saying Kenya must intentionally nurture young leaders who are principled and committed to the country's future.

"Hon. Salasya, a young legislator, is a steadfast leader with a bright future. We must be deliberate in mentoring our young leaders who are principled and have a vision for our great country, Kenya, and prepare them for national leadership," he said.

Gachagua further lauded the Mumias East MP's communication style, describing his public messaging as insightful and engaging.

"I am ever proud of Hon. Salasya's wisdom and his powerful messaging, delivered with great humour and wit. The young leader has really made my day. He has left me filled with joy and greatly enlightened," he added.

The former Deputy President also underscored the importance of investing in Kenya's youthful population, saying the country's greatest resource lies in its productive young leaders.

"The greatest resource our country has is our productive and young leaders. We must give them hope, a great country and, especially, a great economy," he said.

The meeting is the latest in a series of consultations Gachagua has held at his Wamunyoro residence as he seeks to build a broad political movement ahead of the next General Election. Recent engagements have included meetings with religious leaders, professionals, elders, youth representatives and members of the Kenyan diaspora.

Gachagua concluded his statement by reaffirming that the consultations would continue, ending with the message: "God Bless Kenya."
