Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has given politicians until Friday, October 30, to join the Linda Mwananchi movement, warning that those who miss the deadline will be left out.
“The door closes on October 30 this year. If you have not joined the Linda Mwananchi movement by then, we will bid you goodbye,” Sifuna said.
The movement is set to launch its political party in Lavington, Nairobi, on Friday, October 30, before holding a rally in Kwale County on Saturday, October 31.
Sifuna said the movement was not being formed to create positions for its leaders but to push for changes in how the country is governed.
“We are not seeking leadership positions; we are seeking to transform this country of ours. We want to get this country back on track, guided by the six important values enshrined in the Constitution,” he said.
The senator also invoked the legacy of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, saying his political camp would not be intimidated.
“We will not be intimidated by anyone. Honourable Raila Odinga did not raise cowards. We want to restore the rule of law and get rid of this ‘mambo ni matatu’ style of governance,” Sifuna said.
Bumula MP Jack Wamboka said the movement would launch its party in Lavington on Friday, October 30, before travelling to Kwale for the rally the following day.
The group also plans to take its activities to Turkana and Western Kenya as it seeks to expand its reach across the country.
