The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has briefed a United Nations special envoy on its preparations for the August 2027 General Election, outlining measures aimed at ensuring peaceful and credible polls.
IEBC chairman Erastus Ethekon, accompanied by the commission’s vice-chairperson, held talks with the envoy on Tuesday, October 27, on the commission’s state of preparedness.
Ethekon outlined the commission’s priorities, emphasising the need for cooperation among stakeholders to protect the integrity of the electoral process.
The commission said it remained committed to delivering elections that are peaceful, inclusive, free, fair and credible.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability, saying it would safeguard every stage of the electoral process and work to strengthen public confidence in the polls.
Kenyans are expected to elect the President, governors, senators, members of the National Assembly, woman representatives and members of county assemblies in August 2027.
