Kimani Ichung’wah on Tuesday met professionals, business people and opinion leaders from Kikuyu Constituency in a forum he said was aimed at shaping the area’s development agenda through inclusive dialogue.
The Kikuyu MP said the meeting brought together voices that play a critical role in influencing economic growth and social progress at the grassroots, describing their input as essential in guiding policy priorities and development projects.
“I hosted and engaged with professionals, business people and opinion leaders from Kikuyu Constituency—voices whose insights and contributions continue to shape the progress of our community,” Ichung’wah said. “Their perspectives are invaluable as we work together to strengthen development, create opportunities and build a constituency where every resident can thrive.”
Participants raised concerns ranging from the cost of doing business and access to capital for small enterprises to infrastructure gaps and youth unemployment, according to people familiar with the discussions. Several attendees called for closer collaboration between elected leaders and local professionals to ensure projects respond to real community needs.
The meeting comes as Ichung’wah, who is also the National Assembly Majority Leader, steps up engagements at the constituency level amid growing public pressure on leaders to demonstrate tangible development outcomes. Kikuyu Constituency, located in Kiambu County, has seen rapid population growth, increasing demand for jobs, better roads and expanded social services.
Some participants welcomed the engagement, saying it created space for candid conversations beyond political rallies. “It’s important for leaders to listen to people who understand the economy on the ground,” said one business owner who attended the forum.
Ichung’wah said similar engagements would continue, noting that sustained dialogue was key to building consensus on development priorities and ensuring that growth benefits all residents of the constituency.
