Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka today visited Muriguini to stand with residents facing potential displacement under a government-backed slum upgrading plan.
Speaking to residents, Musyoka condemned what he called attempts to intimidate citizens out of their homes. “Together with the entire WPF leadership, we are firm and clear that no one will demolish their homes or intimidate them out of their land,” he said.
The former vice president was joined by senior Wiper officials, including Benson Milai, Executive Director of WPF; Ann Kanyi, Deputy Chairperson of WPF; Diana Kapin, Chairperson of the Wiper Nairobi Caucus; Muriuki Ndwiga, Deputy National Organising Secretary; and Ndegwa Njiru.
Musyoka warned that the opposition would resist any attempts at land grabbing. “Let this serve as a clear warning to anyone attempting to grab this land or any other land. We will not sit by as Kenyans are dispossessed of their homes, dignity, and livelihoods,” he said.
Residents of Muriguini, who approached Musyoka yesterday seeking support, welcomed his visit as a sign of solidarity amid growing fears of eviction.
