Former Deputy President H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH, has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of Hon. Justice Mohammed Khadhar Ibrahim, a judge of the Supreme Court of Kenya.
In a statement on Wednesday, Gachagua praised Justice Ibrahim for his intellect, dedication to social justice, and steadfast commitment to the rule of law and democracy. “Justice Mohammed will be remembered for standing with the people of Kenya during critical moments in our nation’s history,” he said, recalling the judge’s resilience during detentions and challenges in the 1990s struggle for multiparty democracy.
Gachagua described Justice Ibrahim as a source of inspiration to many and lauded his lifelong advocacy for justice, especially for marginalized communities. “He lives on as a man of character and a believer in justice for all,” he said.
He extended condolences to Justice Ibrahim’s family, friends, and the judiciary, noting that his death is a significant loss not only to the legal community but to the nation. “May Almighty God rest the soul of Justice Ibrahim in eternal peace,” Gachagua concluded.
