Democracy For Citizens (DCP) National Youth Leader Wanjiku Thiga has cautioned the Kenya Kwanza government to brace itself for political defeat in the next general election. Speaking during an interview with a local TV station on Friday, December 19, 2025, Thiga said the current administration is disconnected from the everyday realities facing Kenyans.
According to her, rising economic pressures and unaddressed public concerns have steadily eroded confidence in President William Ruto’s leadership.
‘Kenya Is Not on the Right Path’
Thiga argued that the government has failed to acknowledge what she described as widespread rejection from citizens. She insisted that leaders within Kenya Kwanza have refused to accept the mood on the ground, choosing instead to project confidence that does not reflect public sentiment.
She maintained that the country is heading in the wrong direction and accused those in power of ignoring the voices of ordinary people.
Confidence Within DCP
The youthful leader expressed strong belief in DCP’s growing influence, saying the ruling coalition’s dismissive attitude toward criticism only strengthens the opposition’s resolve. She claimed that the government’s bravado is energising young voters and pushing them toward alternative leadership.
Thiga boldly stated that DCP is positioning itself as a vehicle for the aspirations of young Kenyans and those feeling sidelined by the current system.
Eyes on 2027
As the 2027 elections draw closer, Thiga said DCP remains focused on turning public frustration into political change. She predicted that Kenya Kwanza would face a “rude shock” when voters head to the ballot, insisting that the opposition is steadily building momentum toward State House.
