Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has officially launched the Kiharu Masomo Bora Programme – 2026 Edition, marking a major milestone in the constituency’s education agenda.
The launch ceremony was held at Maragi Primary School Grounds, following earlier rollouts at Gaturi Grounds, Kahuhia Secondary School Grounds, and Kahuro Secondary School Grounds. The events attracted large crowds and widespread enthusiasm from parents, learners, and education stakeholders.
Under the programme, all learners in Day Secondary Schools within Kiharu will pay school fees of KSh 500 per term starting from the current Term One of 2026. In addition, a structured school feeding programme has been introduced, with lunch provided from Monday to Saturday. Learners will also enjoy chapati every last Friday of the month.
The initiative covers over 12,000 learners enrolled in all 65 Day Secondary Schools in Kiharu. It is open to all Kenyan students who join any Day Secondary School within the constituency, particularly those who have suitable hosting arrangements.
Academic support and infrastructure development form a core pillar of the programme. Revision materials and key infrastructural projects, including the construction and improvement of laboratories, will be funded through the Kiharu NG-CDF to enhance learning outcomes and school capacity.
MP Ndindi Nyoro expressed gratitude to leaders and community members who attended and supported the launch, including Hon. Charles Machigo, Hon. Liz Mbugua, Hon. Esther Irungu, Hon. Wachiku, Mama Sacco representatives, parents, learners, and the people of Kiharu.
The Kiharu Masomo Bora Programme continues to position education as a central driver of opportunity and development in the constituency, reinforcing the message that investing in learners is investing in Africa’s future.
