Former deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced plans to hold a live radio and online engagement with residents of Northern Kenya, saying the discussion will focus on dignity, inclusion and development in line with the government’s “Leaving No One Behind” agenda.
In a statement on Tuesday, Gachagua said the forum will take place on January 22, 2026, between 7pm and 9pm, and will be aired through local radio stations across the region as well as online platforms.
“Every Kenyan deserves to live a dignified life in the spirit of Leaving No One Behind,” Gachagua said. “I invite the people of Northern Kenya for a candid discussion through their local radio stations and online media.”
The engagement comes amid growing scrutiny of the government’s development record in historically marginalised regions, particularly Northern Kenya, where residents have long raised concerns over insecurity, infrastructure gaps, drought response and access to basic services.
Gachagua said the forum will give residents an opportunity to directly raise their concerns, ask questions and engage the government on issues affecting their daily lives. He did not outline specific agenda items but said the discussion would be open and interactive.
The ex Deputy President has in recent months stepped up regional outreach efforts, positioning public engagements as a way to bridge trust gaps and demonstrate the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance. Northern Kenya leaders have previously called for sustained dialogue rather than one-off visits, arguing that meaningful inclusion must translate into visible policy action and equitable resource allocation.
The January 22 broadcast is expected to be carried by multiple vernacular and regional stations to reach a wide audience across the expansive region.
