President William Ruto on Tuesday officiated the swearing-in ceremony of 15 newly appointed judges of the Court of Appeal at State House, Nairobi.
In a statement following the event, the President said the appointments mark a significant step toward strengthening Kenya’s judiciary and improving access to justice through a more robust appellate court.
The judges sworn in are Hedwig Ong’udi, Mathews Nderi Nduma, Linnet Ndolo, Chacha Mwita, Lucy Njuguna, Samson Okong’o, Rachel Ng’etich, and Kigen Katwa.
Others who took the oath of office include Stephen Radido Okiyo, Brown Kairaria, Issack Hassan, Paul Lilan, Sila Munyao, Johnson Okello, and Byram Ongaya.
President Ruto congratulated the new judges and reminded them of the heavy responsibility entrusted to them, emphasizing the importance of integrity, independence, and fidelity to the Constitution in the discharge of their duties.
He noted that a strong and efficient Court of Appeal is critical to the administration of justice, the protection of constitutional rights, and the strengthening of the rule of law.
The swearing-in comes amid ongoing efforts to enhance judicial capacity, reduce case backlogs, and reinforce public confidence in Kenya’s justice system.
