President William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to regional peace and security, saying lasting stability remains central to shared prosperity in the region.
Ruto said Kenya is prepared to support capacity building and institutional preparedness of South Sudan’s electoral agency ahead of polls scheduled for later this year, noting that credible elections are critical to peace.
“Enduring stability is the foundation of shared prosperity across our region,” Ruto said, adding that Kenya’s support reflects a shared responsibility to strengthen democratic processes and ensure peaceful electoral outcomes.
He spoke at State House, Nairobi, after meeting South Sudan Presidential Special Envoy Tut Gatluak Manime, who delivered a special message from President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
The meeting was also attended by South Sudan’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation minister Monday Semaya Kumba and Tumaini Initiative chief mediator Lazarus Sumbeiywo.
