Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chief Executive Officer Marjan Hussein has resigned from her position following a mutual agreement to terminate her service.
The development was confirmed by IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon, who announced that the commission and Hussein had agreed to part ways by mutual consent.
The resignation marks a notable transition at the electoral body, which plays a central role in managing Kenya’s elections and electoral processes.
While details surrounding the agreement were not immediately disclosed, the announcement indicates that the separation was amicable and formally agreed upon by both parties.
Hussein’s exit comes at a critical time as the IEBC continues efforts to stabilize its leadership and rebuild public confidence ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The commission is expected to outline interim arrangements and the process for appointing a new chief executive officer in due course, as it seeks to maintain operational continuity and preparedness for upcoming electoral activities.
