Junet Mohamed: ODM united, ready for 2027

National Assembly Minority Leader Junet Mohamed has declared that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) remains united and firmly on course for the 2027 General Election, dismissing internal dissent as attempts to weaken the party from within.

Speaking in Siaya County on Saturday, Junet said ODM had “delivered its message of party unity, loyalty and fidelity to the core principles” of the movement founded by the late Raila Odinga.

“In Siaya we delivered our message of party unity, loyalty and fidelity to the core principles of the ODM Party,” Junet said. “We have thwarted attempts to mislead our party supporters by those wearing other jerseys while invoking the name of our late Party Leader.”

Although he did not name individuals, his remarks appeared aimed at leaders accused of straddling rival political camps while still claiming allegiance to ODM and its founding ideals.

Junet said the party would not allow what he described as “conflicted and corrupted” elements to derail its agenda, adding that ODM’s grassroots structures remain intact despite political realignments in recent months.

“We are on course to permanently consign to the basement of history those too conflicted, corrupted and owned by the puppet master to openly turn up on ODM party colours,” he said.

ODM has in recent months faced internal wrangles over strategy, succession politics and its approach to the Kenya Kwanza administration, with some members advocating for cooperation while others push for a hardline opposition stance.

But Junet insisted the party’s influence both at the grassroots and in national politics remains strong.

“Our party is stronger on the ground and more entrenched in the rooms of power than ever before,” he said.

As the 2027 race begins to take shape, Junet urged supporters to remain vigilant and loyal.

“As we consolidate, strengthen and build for 2027, I urge you to remain firm and unmoved — because we shall triumph. Tuko tayari siku zote. Linda ground,” he said.

His remarks signal ODM’s renewed push to consolidate its base in its traditional strongholds even as political alliances continue to shift ahead of the next general election.
