Deputy President Kithure Kindiki on Friday said the government will implement key development projects championed by the late Johanna Ng'eno during his tenure as Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr Constituency.

Speaking during the burial ceremony at Emurua Dikirr Primary School grounds in Narok County, Kindiki described Ng’eno as a courageous leader who served his constituents with dedication.

“Johanna Ng’eno served his people well and with great courage,” Kindiki said. “Though he has rested, the government will honour his vision for the people of Emurua Dikirr.”

Kindiki said the government will prioritise issuance of title deeds, compensation or resettlement for residents evicted during conservation efforts in the Mau Forest ecosystem.

He added that the state will also pursue the tarmacking of key roads in the constituency and the establishment of a university campus in the area—projects the late MP had consistently pushed for.

The Deputy President joined William Ruto, local leaders and thousands of mourners who gathered to pay their last respects to Ng’eno and several other victims during the emotional ceremony.

Ng’eno died on February 28, 2026, in a tragic helicopter crash in the Chepkiep area of Mosop in Nandi County. The aircraft went down shortly after attempting to take off from a makeshift landing site near a forest area before bursting into flames.

The crash killed six people, including the MP, his aides and the pilot. A postmortem later revealed that the victims died from severe trauma to the head, chest and spine and also sustained burns after the helicopter caught fire on impact.

The victims included Wycliffe Kiprotich Rono, Robert Kipkoech Keter, Nicholas Kosgei, Amos Kipngetich Rotich and pilot George Were.

Government agencies have since launched investigations to establish the cause of the crash, with aviation authorities leading the probe in line with international aviation procedures.

Ng’eno, who was first elected in 2013, was serving his third term in Parliament and had built a reputation as a vocal legislator. In the National Assembly, he served as chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works and played a role in legislation supporting the Affordable Housing programme.

Leaders at the funeral praised his dedication to the people of Emurua Dikirr, particularly his advocacy for land rights and development projects in Narok.

Kindiki said the government would work closely with local leaders and residents to ensure that Ng’eno’s development agenda for the constituency is implemented.
