William Ruto on Sunday presided over the launch of the Siaya Community Digital Hub in Bondo Town, a project aimed at expanding digital access and technological opportunities for local residents.
The launch event was attended by Oburu Oginga, a senior leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, alongside other local leaders and officials.
The facility is expected to provide residents of Siaya County and nearby areas with improved access to computers, internet connectivity and digital services.
Community digital hubs are part of the government’s broader plan to strengthen digital infrastructure across the country while equipping citizens with modern technology skills.
Leaders who attended the event said the centres will play a key role in supporting youth, entrepreneurs and students by offering a platform for learning, innovation and access to online opportunities.
They added that the initiative will help narrow the digital gap by making technology resources more accessible to communities that previously had limited connectivity.
The opening of the facility in Bondo is part of ongoing government efforts to promote technology-driven development and expand digital connectivity in counties across Kenya.
