Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has strongly defended President William Ruto’s administration, dismissing its critics as “bitter individuals” who are allegedly intent on undermining ongoing government reforms and development projects.

In a statement shared on social media, Duale said a section of political opponents never believed in the President’s leadership and had expected his government to fail.

“There is a political faction led by bitter individuals who never believed H.E. President William Samoei Ruto could deliver The Plan. They expected failure,” he said.

Duale insisted that the Kenya Kwanza administration had achieved significant milestones within three years, arguing that progress was already visible across key sectors of the economy.

“Yet, in just three years, he has achieved what his predecessors could not in their entire terms,” he said.

He pointed to the Affordable Housing Programme, expansion of road infrastructure, education reforms, and ongoing health sector changes as evidence of what he described as “real transformation.”

“Today, we see the Affordable Housing Project taking shape, massive road networks being constructed across the country, meaningful reforms in education and a healthcare system undergoing real transformation,” he added.

Duale urged critics to focus on development issues rather than political disputes, saying public debate was being derailed by what he termed “side shows of selfish individuals.”

“It is only fair that we focus on these real issues, rather than get distracted by the side shows of selfish individuals,” he said.

The remarks come amid renewed political attacks from former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has intensified criticism of the Ruto administration in recent public rallies.

Gachagua accused the government of widespread failure across multiple sectors, claiming that key institutions and programmes had collapsed under the current leadership. He singled out the Social Health Authority (SHA), taxation system, security, agriculture, education, and foreign affairs, arguing that Kenyans had been abandoned by their government.

“What is working? SHA? Tax Regime? Security? Agriculture? Healthcare? Social Security? Foreign Affairs? Education? Nothing! All failed!” he said.

He further alleged that the government had neglected citizens while engaging in corruption and mismanagement, saying Kenyans had been left to fend for themselves as leaders pursued personal gain.

“The people, who are supreme, have been left on their own. Their government left them and went on a looting spree of their Nation,” he said.

Gachagua, who has positioned himself within an emerging opposition formation, also pledged to mount a political comeback through the ballot, linking his message to the 2027 General Election.

“We shall restore this with your card on 10th August 2027,” he said during a public engagement in Wote, Makueni County.

He described his movement as a “United Alternative Government,” saying it would work with citizens to restore what he termed national dignity and sovereignty.

The growing exchange between Gachagua and senior government officials highlights deepening political divisions ahead of the 2027 elections, with both sides increasingly using public platforms to rally support and challenge each other’s record in office.
