Veteran politician Oburu Oginga has called for national reflection and unity, urging Kenyans to rally behind a renewed push for integrity and reforms as the country approaches what he described as a pivotal political phase.
In a statement marking the start of a new month, Oburu said the country stands “at the threshold of a new chapter,” emphasizing the need for collective resolve to confront long-standing systemic challenges.
“This season demands a unity of purpose; it is only through our collective resolve that we can finally confront and overcome the systemic challenges that have bedevilled our Republic for generations,” he said.
The legislator reaffirmed the position of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), noting that the party remains committed to pushing for strong anti-corruption measures from within government structures.
“We are entering a pivotal era where our mission is clear: to influence real, tangible change from within the seat of government,” he said. “Integrity must not be an option, but the standard.”
Oburu added that ODM’s agenda is anchored on improving social welfare, justice and economic prosperity for Kenyans, while insisting that public institutions must be shielded from corruption.
His remarks come amid heightened political activity and renewed debate over governance and accountability, with leaders across the divide positioning themselves ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
“The power is in your vote,” he said, in a direct appeal to citizens.
The statement underscores ODM’s continued focus on reform and governance, even as critics question whether political pledges will translate into meaningful change for ordinary Kenyans grappling with economic hardship and public sector inefficiencies.
