Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has intensified his criticism of political leaders and activists calling for nationwide protests against the administration of President William Ruto. Speaking during a public engagement, Wandayi accused those pushing for demonstrations of prioritizing their own political ambitions over the needs of ordinary citizens.
According to the CS, the protest campaigns are being fueled by individuals who have failed to offer constructive solutions and are instead exploiting public frustrations to advance their personal agendas. Wandayi insisted that the government remains focused on delivering development projects and implementing reforms intended to improve the lives of Kenyans.
He emphasized that while citizens have the right to express dissent, the energy directed toward protests could be better invested in dialogue, innovation, and community-level progress. Wandayi maintained that the government is open to criticism but warned against what he termed “orchestrated disruption” aimed at creating instability for political gain.
The CS further urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and avoid being misled by leaders who, in his view, thrive on conflict rather than national development. He reassured the public that the government is committed to addressing economic challenges through sustainable policies, including energy sector reforms and programs designed to spur growth and reduce the cost of living.
Wandayi’s remarks come at a time when political tensions continue to rise, with calls for protests gaining momentum in some regions. His comments reflect the administration’s broader push to project stability and counter narratives portraying the government as unresponsive to public concerns.
