The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has urged eligible Kenyans to take advantage of the final days of the Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR2026), which will close on Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
In a public notice, the Commission said the exercise is now in its final stretch, with only four days remaining for citizens to register ahead of future electoral activities.
“Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR2026) will end on Tuesday 28th April 2026. Register as a voter today,” the IEBC said.
The Commission has deployed mobile registration kits across the country, allowing citizens to register at any designated centre without travelling to their home counties. According to the IEBC, the system enables eligible voters to choose any polling station nationwide, improving accessibility and convenience.
“You do not need to travel to your home county to register. The Commission has deployed open kits, which allow a citizen to register as a voter for any polling station in Kenya from the registration centre near you,” the statement added.
However, the IEBC clarified that voter registration is currently suspended in areas preparing for by-elections or dealing with ongoing election petitions. These include Porro Ward, Endo Ward, Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Ol Kalou Constituency, Malava Constituency and Mbeere North Constituency.
The Commission said the suspension is meant to avoid disruptions in electoral processes already underway in those regions.
The current registration drive is being conducted under the theme “Deepening Democracy in Kenya Through Inclusive Voter Registration,” with the IEBC encouraging youth and first-time voters to participate.
Electoral officials have in recent weeks intensified civic education campaigns, focusing on increasing voter turnout and ensuring more Kenyans are registered ahead of future elections.
The ECVR exercise is part of ongoing efforts by the electoral body to maintain an updated voter register and improve participation in democratic processes across the country.
