Former Interior Principal Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho has firmly dismissed speculation linking him to a possible political comeback ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a live television interview on Wednesday night, May 27, 2026, the former powerful government official ruled out any plans to run for elective office despite months of political speculation surrounding his future.
Kibicho, who served as one of the most influential figures during former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration, made it clear that he has no intention of appearing on the ballot in 2027.
For months, political analysts and observers had floated his name for various senior county and national leadership positions, citing his long experience in government administration and influence within Kenya’s political circles. However, the former Interior Ministry official shut down the rumours, stating that he is not preparing for a political contest.
His remarks come at a time when political realignments and early campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections are already taking shape, with several former state officials and influential figures being linked to possible bids for public office.
Kibicho gained national prominence during Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency, where he played a central role in security coordination and government administration. His tenure often placed him at the center of political debates, especially during highly charged election periods and national security operations.
Despite his continued visibility in public discourse and recent comments on national politics and security matters, Kibicho has now made it clear that he does not intend to transition into elective politics.
