Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called on his supporters across the country to remain calm and peaceful as the High Court prepares to issue its ruling on petitions challenging his impeachment.
Speaking during a church service at PCEA Muteero Church in Karen on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Gachagua emphasized the importance of respecting the judicial process regardless of the outcome of the highly anticipated case.
The former deputy president urged his supporters not to engage in violence or actions that could disrupt public order once the judgement is delivered by the three-judge bench scheduled to hear the matter on Monday.
“I want to urge my supporters across the country, irrespective of the outcome, to remain calm and peaceful,” Gachagua said.
He noted that Kenya is governed by the rule of law and that citizens should allow constitutional institutions to carry out their mandate without interference or intimidation.
Gachagua's appeal comes amid heightened public interest in the case, which is expected to have significant political implications. The ruling will determine the fate of petitions challenging the process that led to his removal from office as Deputy President.
The former deputy president also encouraged his supporters to remain united and avoid actions that could create tension or divisions within communities. He stressed that peace and stability should take precedence over political differences.
The impeachment case has attracted national attention, with political leaders, legal experts, and members of the public closely following the proceedings. The outcome is likely to shape the country's political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
As anticipation builds ahead of the judgement, Gachagua's message sought to reassure his supporters while reinforcing the need for restraint and respect for the courts.
