Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he will move to the Court of Appeal if the High Court rules against him in the highly anticipated judgement on petitions challenging his impeachment.
Speaking during a church service at PCEA Muteero Church in Karen, Nairobi, on Sunday, June 7, 2026, Gachagua said he is ready for any outcome and remains confident in Kenya’s judicial system as the three-judge bench prepares to deliver its verdict.
The former deputy president told congregants that he trusts the judges handling the matter and urged Kenyans to continue praying for him as he awaits the court's decision.
“We are ready for whatever outcome,” Gachagua said.
He explained that a favourable ruling would allow him to proceed with his political plans, while an unfavourable decision would only mark the beginning of the next phase of his legal battle.
Gachagua reiterated that the Constitution grants every litigant the right to exhaust all available legal avenues, noting that he is prepared to challenge any adverse ruling before the Court of Appeal and, if necessary, the Supreme Court.
The impeachment case has attracted significant public and political interest due to its potential impact on Gachagua’s future in national politics and his reported ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the outcome, the former deputy president maintained an optimistic tone, saying he remains confident that justice will prevail. He also urged his supporters across the country to remain peaceful and respect the rule of law regardless of the court’s determination.
The ruling is expected to provide clarity on one of the most closely watched political and legal battles in recent years, with analysts noting that its outcome could influence political alignments and strategies ahead of the next election cycle.
