Caleb Amisi Announces New Political Movement After Breaking Ranks With Linda Mwananchi

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has announced plans to establish a new political movement, citing dissatisfaction with the current direction of the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Speaking during an interview with a local media station on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Amisi claimed that Linda Mwananchi had drifted away from the goals that inspired its formation, prompting him to chart a different political path.

According to the outspoken legislator, the movement was initially created to provide young people with a credible platform to push for governance reforms and accountability. However, he argued that it has gradually lost focus and begun embracing the very political culture it was meant to challenge.

“The Linda Mwananchi did not understand its initial assignment, and it has deviated from its original course, and that is why I want to form a new movement that will continue with the struggle,” Amisi said.

The MP noted that the new initiative would be designed to nurture and support leaders committed to transforming society through integrity, accountability, and people-centred leadership.

Amisi explained that the proposed movement would not operate as a political party but rather as a broad-based platform aimed at mobilising citizens and identifying credible candidates for elective positions, particularly parliamentary seats.

He revealed that a team of policy experts and strategists has already begun developing the movement’s agenda and priorities ahead of the 2027 General Election.

According to Amisi, the new formation will focus on ensuring that Parliament is populated by leaders capable of independently holding the executive accountable and safeguarding the interests of ordinary Kenyans.

The legislator suggested that efforts by opposition groups to remove President William Ruto from power through the ballot in 2027 may not succeed unless significant reforms are made in the composition of Parliament.

He argued that electing a new generation of lawmakers would create stronger institutions capable of checking executive power and responding effectively to governance challenges.

Amisi further clarified that the movement would differ from the People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM), which has previously been associated with him, insisting that his latest initiative is focused on building a people-driven reform agenda rather than creating another political party.

The announcement adds a new dimension to Kenya’s evolving political landscape as leaders and political movements begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election. Political analysts are expected to closely monitor whether Amisi’s new movement gains traction among young voters and reform-minded citizens seeking alternative political platforms.
