Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has dismissed allegations by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that the government deployed security officers and state-sponsored groups to disrupt Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) activities in Ol Kalou.
In a statement posted on his X account on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Murkomen accused Gachagua of attempting to manipulate public opinion through what he described as political theatrics.
"Mr Rigathi Gachagua, we know your gimmicks and juvenile attempts at reverse psychology," Murkomen wrote.
The Interior CS further warned Gachagua against any attempts to incite violence during the ongoing political activities in Ol Kalou.
"Try violence in Ol Kalou and you will see," he cautioned.
Murkomen also issued a warning to members of the public, urging them not to allow themselves to be recruited into acts of violence for political purposes.
"To anyone being recruited to violence by Mr Gachagua, keep off because the consequences will be dire," he added.
His remarks came shortly after Gachagua alleged that the Interior Ministry had deployed security personnel and what he termed "state-sponsored goons" to intimidate DCP supporters and disrupt the party's political activities in Nyandarua County.
Gachagua had also claimed that members of his campaign team had been targeted during the operations and accused the government of orchestrating political intimidation ahead of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
Murkomen, however, rejected the allegations, maintaining that the claims were part of an attempt to divert attention and inflame political tensions.
The exchange adds to the growing war of words between the two leaders as political campaigns intensify ahead of the Ol Kalou by-election and the 2027 General Election.
