The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has concluded the final phase of preparations for the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, 2026.
In a statement, the commission announced that election materials had been distributed to polling officials for dispatch to their respective polling stations across Ol Kalou Constituency in readiness for voting day.
According to the IEBC, the Returning Officer supervised the opening of sealed pallets containing ballot papers in the presence of candidates, chief agents, security agencies and members of the media.
The exercise was conducted to enable stakeholders to verify that the security seals remained intact and to confirm that the serial numbers on the ballot papers matched the polling stations to which they had been assigned.
The commission said the verification process was aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability and public confidence in the management of the by-election.
"This transparent verification process underscores the Commission's commitment to accountability, integrity and public confidence in the electoral process," the IEBC said.
The electoral agency added that all preparations had been completed ahead of polling day, when residents of Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua County will elect their new Member of the National Assembly.
The Ol Kalou parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of former MP David Njuguna Kiaraho, prompting the IEBC to schedule the by-election.
