Activist Boniface Mwangi has hailed the outcome of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, saying voters demonstrated that democracy can prevail despite allegations of vote buying and intimidation.
In a statement shared on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Mwangi commended residents for accepting campaign incentives while ultimately voting according to their conscience.
"Ol Kalou wamefunza Wakenya dawa ya Ruto. Kula pesa ya UDA, chukua gas, mattress, hata bebwa na boat yao lakini pigia kura kiongozi mwenye hajakuhonga," Mwangi said.
He argued that the election showed voters could not be influenced by material incentives and instead exercised their democratic right independently.
The activist also claimed that residents defied intimidation and insecurity during the by-election by turning out to vote for their preferred candidate.
"Today democracy won. Kenyans in Ol Kalou defied goons, gunshots, and voted their candidate of choice. Siasa ya ukora imeanguka!" he stated.
Mwangi's remarks came after the conclusion of the closely contested Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, which attracted national attention ahead of the 2027 General Election.
