Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has praised Ol Kalou Member of Parliament-elect Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru following his victory in the parliamentary by-election, describing the result as an extraordinary achievement.
Speaking after the declaration of the results, Gachagua said Kamau had prevailed despite facing what he termed an overwhelming political campaign mounted by the government.
"You fought a hard fight against a President, a Deputy President, seven Cabinet Secretaries, 16 Principal Secretaries, 91 Members of Parliament, a train, two boats, and 2,000 police officers. Wewe ni mtoto wa Mungu," Gachagua said.
The DCP leader commended Kamau for his resilience throughout the campaign, arguing that the victory reflected the determination of Ol Kalou voters despite the intense political contest.
The Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election attracted nationwide attention, with both the Kenya Kwanza administration and the opposition treating it as a significant political contest ahead of the 2027 General Election.
