Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi has confirmed that he held a WhatsApp conversation with Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua.
In a statement posted on his Facebook account on Monday, July 20, 2026, Wamumbi acknowledged that the two leaders had exchanged messages and suggested that the conversation included information Gachagua had not made public.
“It is true, H.E. Rigathi Gachagua and I, EGH, have been talking on WhatsApp messages,” Wamumbi wrote.
The MP further claimed that the conversation contained additional details, including what he described as demands allegedly made to “WSR,” initials commonly associated with President William Samoei Ruto.
“There is more, including what he demanded from WSR,” Wamumbi stated.
He also remarked that Gachagua “talks too much” and added that he possessed the messages “as is.”
However, Wamumbi did not disclose the nature of the alleged demands, nor did he publish screenshots or any evidence of the conversation.
His statement confirms that communication took place between him and Gachagua, but it does not verify all the details previously narrated by the former Deputy President.
The exchange comes in the wake of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, where DCP candidate Sammy Kamau Ngotho secured victory with 35,440 votes.
