Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Fred Matiang’i has met members of the Linda Mwananchi movement led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as opposition leaders continue efforts to coordinate their activities ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The meeting was held at Matiang’i’s office in Karen, Nairobi, on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Speaking after the engagement, Matiang’i said the discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between Linda Mwananchi and the United Alternative Government.

“This morning, I held a productive consultative meeting with the Linda Mwananchi team, led by Nairobi Senator Hon. Edwin Sifuna, at my office in Karen ahead of the team’s tour of Western Kenya,” Matiang’i wrote on X.

He said the meeting centred on building strategic coordination and aligning efforts to provide Kenyans with what he described as a credible and people-focused political alternative ahead of the next elections.

“Our discussions focused on strengthening strategic coordination across the United Alternative Government and aligning our efforts as we continue to offer Kenyans a credible, principled, and people-centred alternative ahead of the 2027 General Election,” he said.

Matiang’i added that the leaders would continue holding consultations as they work towards promoting accountable leadership and constitutional governance.

“We remain committed to regular consultations and purposeful engagement as we work together to restore accountable leadership, uphold constitutional governance, and put our country firmly back on the path of national renewal,” he stated.

The meeting comes ahead of Linda Mwananchi’s planned tour of Western Kenya, with the movement expected to visit Trans Nzoia County on Saturday, July 25, 2026, before heading to Bungoma County on Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Sifuna described the two-day engagement as a “double header” and urged supporters to prepare for the weekend mobilisation activities.

The Karen meeting is the latest engagement between Matiang’i and leaders associated with Linda Mwananchi as opposition figures seek to build cooperation ahead of the 2027 polls.

The talks also came a day after political communications strategist Pauline Njoroge resigned from the Jubilee Party, ending her 14-year association with the party and signalling a new political direction.
