United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate in the recently concluded Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, Samuel Muchina Nyagah, has said President William Ruto has assigned him the responsibility of overseeing ongoing government projects in the constituency.
Muchina made the remarks after meeting President Ruto at State House, Nairobi, on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
According to Muchina, the President congratulated him for running what he described as an issue-based campaign that demonstrated politics could be conducted with dignity, respect and maturity.
“Although our victory was postponed, our commitment to the people of Ol Kalou remains unwavering. Leadership is not only about holding office; it is about standing with the people and ensuring that development reaches every household,” Muchina said.
He stated that President Ruto assured him that all government projects initiated in Ol Kalou would continue as planned, despite the outcome of the by-election.
Muchina further revealed that he had been tasked with supervising the implementation of the projects to ensure they are completed for the benefit of residents.
Among the projects he listed were the completion of 36 ongoing rural electrification projects across the constituency, construction of houses for vulnerable families, and completion of borehole projects, five of which he said had already been initiated.
The former UDA candidate maintained that the projects were not politically motivated but were intended to improve the lives of the people of Ol Kalou.
He said he had accepted the responsibility of ensuring the projects are implemented successfully.
