Renowned entertainer and activist Eric Omondi has rolled out a countrywide voter registration campaign focusing on young Kenyans, particularly university students, to ensure full participation of the Gen Z generation in the upcoming 2027 General Elections.
Speaking at the Gen Z campaign’s launch, Omondi highlighted that the youth make up the majority of Kenya’s population but remain underrepresented in voter statistics. He urged young people to seize their power at the ballot by registering early and turning their voices into votes.
The campaign will feature university tours, voter education drives, and social media mobilization, combining on-ground outreach with online awareness to reach millions of young Kenyans. Omondi emphasized that the movement is non-political, focusing solely on civic empowerment and the role of youth in building accountable leadership.
He further called on students who have recently turned 18 to secure national identification documents and visit registration centres to get listed as voters.
The initiative is expected to run throughout 2025 and 2026, with plans to partner with student associations, community organizations, and influencers to amplify its message.
By targeting Gen Z, Omondi hopes to turn youthful enthusiasm into tangible political participation ensuring that the next election reflects Kenya’s largest demographic voice.
