Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Saturday, July 25, 2026, joined the Linda Mwananchi movement during its political tour of Trans Nzoia County, marking his first public appearance alongside the outfit’s senior leadership.
Khalwale’s participation comes as the movement intensifies nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
On July 23, the senator shared a promotional poster on his social media platforms welcoming the Linda Mwananchi team to Trans Nzoia and Bungoma counties, sparking speculation that he was preparing to associate himself with the movement.
Although he did not formally announce his affiliation at the time, Saturday’s appearance confirmed his participation in the opposition’s Western Kenya mobilisation.
The Linda Mwananchi team began its Trans Nzoia tour with stopovers at Moi’s Bridge and Sibanga before holding a major rally in Kitale town.
According to the organisers, the delegation will proceed to Bungoma County on Sunday for Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s homecoming rally, which is expected to attract thousands of supporters from across the Western region.
The Western Kenya tour forms part of Linda Mwananchi’s broader strategy to expand its support base as opposition leaders continue consolidating under the emerging United Alternative Government alliance.
Khalwale, who serves as the Senate Majority Whip and leads the United Patriotic Movement (UPM) party, was photographed alongside Linda Mwananchi leaders after arriving at Soy County Club, where the movement’s principals held a strategy meeting before launching their public engagements.
He joined a delegation led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, Siaya Governor James Orengo, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya and other opposition leaders participating in the regional tour.
His appearance follows earlier indications that he would take part in the Linda Mwananchi activities, signalling closer engagement with the movement as political realignments continue ahead of the 2027 polls.
