Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has claimed that Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Jubilee deputy party leader Fred Matiang’i are now facing the consequences of allowing their allies to join the Linda Mwananchi movement.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms on Monday, July 27, 2026, Salasya, who has recently been critical of the Linda Mwananchi movement, dismissed the outfit as a creation of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) aimed at weakening the broader opposition and disrupting efforts to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.
His remarks come days after Nakuru West MP Samuel Arama urged Matiang’i to rein in his allies, particularly leaders from the Kisii region who have publicly associated themselves with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Arama argued that Jubilee members participating in Linda Mwananchi activities should clearly state where their political loyalty lies, questioning whether they remain committed to Jubilee or have shifted allegiance to the Sifuna-led movement.
According to Arama, Jubilee and Linda Mwananchi are separate political formations with different presidential candidates and political agendas, despite both operating within the broader opposition.
He maintained that leaders cannot simultaneously claim loyalty to Jubilee while actively campaigning for Sifuna's presidential bid through the Linda Mwananchi movement, noting that Matiang’i is also widely viewed as preparing a presidential bid.
The debate has intensified following the resignation of political communications strategist Pauline Njoroge from the Jubilee Party, where she served as deputy organising secretary, before joining the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Initially emerging as a rebel faction within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), Linda Mwananchi has since evolved into a broader political movement, attracting leaders from several opposition parties as political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election continue.
