Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced a series of political tours in Laikipia and Nakuru counties as the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) ramps up grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua, who leads DCP, is scheduled to begin the engagements with a visit to Laikipia County on Friday, August 1, 2026, where he is expected to address supporters in Nanyuki.
The meeting was announced by Laikipia DCP Woman Leader Cate Waruguru through her social media platforms on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, as part of the party's efforts to strengthen its support base across the Mt Kenya region.
“Siku ni moja na ni Jumamosi! Tujitokeze kwa wingi kumpokea Kiongozi wetu wa Chama na mgombea wetu wa Urais, H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, mjini Nanyuki. Tushirikiane kuonyesha mshikamano na nguvu yetu. Hii si ya kukosa!” Cate stated.
Following the Laikipia visit, Gachagua is expected to embark on a two-day political tour of Nakuru County on August 14 and 15.
According to the programme released by the party, the DCP leader will begin the Nakuru tour on Friday, August 14, with rallies in Naivasha Town, Nakuru Town West at Soko Mjinga and Nakuru Town East at Kanu House.
On the second day of the tour, Saturday, August 15, Gachagua will hold meetings in Ijoro, Elburgon, Turi, Molo, Kibunja and Rongai Centre, where he is expected to engage residents and popularise the party's agenda ahead of the next general election.
The planned tours form part of DCP's broader strategy to consolidate its support in the Mt Kenya region following its recent victory in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, which handed the party its first parliamentary seat.
The opposition outfit has since intensified political activities across the country as it seeks to expand its grassroots networks and position itself for the 2027 polls.
