Wiper Deputy Minority Leader Enock Wambua has dismissed claims that party leader Kalonzo Musyoka met President William Ruto to discuss a possible political alliance ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an interview, Wambua described the reports as a "deep fake," insisting that no such meeting had taken place and that Kalonzo remained firmly committed to the United Alternative coalition.
"There was no meeting, there is no plan to have such a meeting. If Ruto met a man in State House called Kalonzo, then that man was not Kalonzo Musyoka," Wambua said.
The Kitui Senator accused the government of circulating the claims because it viewed Kalonzo as President Ruto's biggest political challenger ahead of the next election.
According to Wambua, the opposition remains united and is working towards naming a single presidential candidate, with all coalition leaders committed to supporting whoever is ultimately selected.
"Kalonzo is a seasoned politician. I dare say he is the senior most statesman alive. Kalonzo is not a man to sell the vision of millions of Kenyans for his personal gain," he said.
Wambua maintained that Kalonzo had not wavered from the opposition's shared objective of presenting a united front against the Kenya Kwanza administration in the 2027 polls.
His remarks come after videos circulated on social media claiming that Kalonzo had secretly met President Ruto and proposed becoming his running mate in the next General Election.
