Suba North Member of Parliament and National Assembly Minority Whip Millie Odhiambo has signalled her intention to run for the presidency in 2032, adding a new dimension to Kenya's increasingly active succession politics.
Speaking during National Assembly proceedings on Thursday, August 13, 2026, the ODM legislator made the declaration in a light-hearted but pointed remark as political leaders continue positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
“I leave them handling to fight over now, that is their problem. But in 2032, I’m the president,” Odhiambo told the House.
Her remarks come as political debate remains heavily focused on the 2027 presidential contest, with President William Ruto expected to seek a second term while opposition leaders and emerging political movements continue negotiating alliances and potential presidential tickets.
Odhiambo's declaration shifts attention to the political period beyond 2027, signalling that some leaders are already considering the succession battle that could follow the next General Election.
The Suba North MP has been a prominent figure within ODM and currently serves as the National Assembly Minority Whip, placing her among the party's senior parliamentary leadership.
Her comments also come amid growing political realignments across the country, with established parties and emerging movements seeking to consolidate support ahead of the 2027 polls.
While Odhiambo's statement was delivered in a light-hearted manner, her declaration introduces the possibility of a presidential bid in 2032 and adds her name to the growing list of politicians positioning themselves for Kenya's long-term political succession.
