In a statement addressed to residents, Samidoh said his decision to enter politics was not based on his popularity as a musician but on his personal connection to the constituency, his upbringing and his desire to participate directly in leadership and decision-making.
“Ladies and gentlemen, good people of Nyandarua County, I am humbled to offer my candidature for the position of Member of Parliament for Ol Joro Orok Constituency,” he said.
Samidoh described Ol Joro Orok as his home and said his political ambitions were shaped by the experiences and challenges he encountered while growing up in the area.
“I am a son of Ol Joro Orok. This is home. This is where my journey began,” he said.
The musician recounted how he was orphaned at a young age and had to overcome difficult circumstances before establishing himself professionally. He said his journey through adversity taught him the importance of determination, faith and hard work.
“My story is not one of privilege. I was orphaned at a young age, and like many children who grow up facing difficult circumstances, I had every reason to give up. But I did not,” he said.
Samidoh previously served in the Kenya Police Service before pursuing a career in music. His musical career has taken him across Kenya and abroad, exposing him to different communities, institutions and opportunities.
“The journey has taken me from the villages of Ol Joro Orok to stages across this country and around the world. It has introduced me to people, communities, institutions and opportunities that I could never have imagined while growing up,” he said.
Samidoh distances political bid from celebrity status
Despite his nationwide popularity, Samidoh said he was not seeking the Ol Joro Orok seat simply because of his celebrity status.
He insisted that his decision was motivated by a desire to serve and contribute to the development of his home constituency rather than capitalize on his fame as an entertainer.
“But today, I am not offering myself for this position because I am a musician. I am not offering myself because I am famous or because my name is known across the country,” he said.
His declaration adds another high-profile name to the political contest in Nyandarua County ahead of the 2027 General Election, as personalities from outside traditional political circles increasingly seek elective positions.
