In a message shared on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, ODM said it would take its campaign to Kilgoris on Friday, August 28, bringing together party supporters, local leaders and grassroots officials.
“Kilgoris tunakuja… Chama kiko imara,” the party said in a social media post, signalling its intention to showcase its organisational strength in the constituency.
The rally will coincide with the launch of an ODM branch office in Kilgoris, underscoring the party’s renewed focus on strengthening its grassroots structures as it prepares for the 2027 polls.
ODM steps up grassroots mobilisation
The planned Kilgoris rally comes as ODM seeks to consolidate its support base across the country amid shifting political alliances.
Party leader Oburu Oginga has repeatedly urged members to remain united and strengthen ODM’s grassroots networks, arguing that a strong party structure will be crucial to its political fortunes.
In May 2026, Oburu called on ODM supporters to formally register as party members to increase the party’s membership and grassroots presence.
He also pledged that ODM would conduct free and fair nominations ahead of the 2027 General Election.
ODM-UDA alliance takes shape
The Kilgoris mobilisation comes against the backdrop of ongoing political realignments ahead of the next General Election.
ODM and President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) have been working towards a broader political partnership, with the two sides developing structures for a possible 2027 coalition and joint manifesto.
Oburu has previously indicated that ODM will not field a presidential candidate in 2027 and instead intends to support President Ruto’s re-election bid under the emerging political arrangement.
Kilgoris is one of six constituencies in Narok County and remains an important political constituency in the Trans Mara region.
The planned rally is therefore expected to provide ODM with an opportunity to assess and strengthen its grassroots support in the area as political parties position themselves for the 2027 election.
