Kirinyaga Central Member of Parliament Gachoki Gitari has accused political enemies of masterminding the destruction of the NG-CDF office in Kerugoya, which was vandalised and looted during the Saba Saba demonstrations. Speaking on Friday, December 5, 2025, during the official recommissioning of the renovated office, Gitari condemned the attack as a deliberate attempt to halt progress in the constituency. He described the vandalism as a well-planned effort aimed at sabotaging development projects and creating unnecessary obstacles for the residents who depend on NG-CDF services.
The MP explained that the vandalism had severely disrupted operations, forcing the office to function under difficult conditions for several months. In some cases, essential services were completely suspended, leaving residents without support at a time when they needed it most. Gitari stressed that the destruction did not just target the office infrastructure but also undermined the welfare of students, youth groups, and vulnerable families who rely on NG-CDF programmes.
During the reopening, Gitari assured the public that the renovated office is now fully functional and better equipped to serve the community. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that all stalled projects resume immediately and that beneficiaries continue receiving uninterrupted assistance. The MP urged residents to remain vigilant and to reject leaders who use chaos and destruction as political tools. He encouraged unity and cooperation, emphasizing that development can only thrive in an environment of peace and stability.
Gitari concluded by promising to push forward with all planned initiatives, noting that no amount of political intimidation will stop progress in Kirinyaga Central. He called on security agencies to ensure that those behind the vandalism are held accountable, insisting that such acts must not go unpunished.
