People’s Party of Kenya leader and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has ruled out working with President William Ruto, signalling a continued political break between the two leaders.
Speaking during a local television interview on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, Nyoro said his last conversation with Ruto was likely in 2025, suggesting that communication between them has remained limited.
Nyoro also delivered a strong criticism of the President’s leadership, arguing that Kenyans who understand Ruto’s leadership cannot simultaneously support him while claiming to have the country’s interests at heart.
Criticism of Corruption and Political Leadership
The Kiharu legislator also turned his attention to corruption, saying Kenya would benefit from stronger efforts to curb the vice.
Nyoro argued that political leaders should prioritise improving the lives of citizens rather than pursuing personal wealth. He expressed concern about leaders seeking to leave office wealthier than those they replaced.
His remarks reflect his broader criticism of the current political establishment as he positions himself separately from the administration ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Nyoro Raises Security Concerns
Nyoro further expressed concern over Kenya’s security environment, calling for security institutions to operate independently from political activities.
He argued that security agencies should concentrate on protecting citizens and maintaining national security rather than becoming heavily involved in political meetings and gatherings.
Political Position Ahead of 2027
Nyoro’s latest comments reinforce his increasingly independent political positioning as parties and leaders begin shaping their strategies for the 2027 elections.
By ruling out cooperation with Ruto while criticising his administration’s approach to governance, corruption and security, Nyoro appears to be drawing a clear political distinction between himself and the President.
