Speaking on Wednesday, Waiguru said she had intentionally stayed away from the political spotlight for about six weeks and dismissed calls for her to associate with Gachagua’s political formation.
The governor said she would not join a camp where individuals are allegedly sidelined or denied platforms to express themselves.
Reference to Microphone Incident
Waiguru’s remarks appeared to allude to an incident involving former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici during Gachagua’s visit to the county, where Ngirici was reportedly denied an opportunity to speak.
The governor maintained that she would not be drawn into exchanges with individuals who attack or insult her, signalling her intention to remain focused on her political path rather than engage in public confrontations.
Waiguru Appears With Rachel Ruto
Waiguru spoke while hosting First Lady Rachel Ruto during a women’s empowerment event held at Kamiigua Polytechnic grounds in Kirinyaga.
The event was attended by Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari, County Assembly Speaker Muteti Murimi alongside other MCAs, Health Principal Secretary Mary Muthoni Muriuki and Gender Principal Secretary Anne Wang’ombe.
Governor Ends Six-Week Low Profile
Waiguru has largely remained away from the public political scene since the government suffered a setback in the Ol Kalou by-election.
During the event, she asked residents whether they had missed seeing her, receiving an enthusiastic response from the crowd.
Her latest comments could signal a return to a more visible political role as parties and leaders position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
