Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has issued a pointed warning to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, challenging him to engage him directly instead of allegedly sending political allies to attack him.
Speaking at the People’s Party headquarters on Monday, September 7, 2026, Nyoro did not mention Gachagua by name but appeared to direct his remarks at the former Deputy President.
Nyoro said he had supported Gachagua without conditions during his bid to become Deputy President in the 2022 election and had remained supportive even during the political difficulties that later culminated in Gachagua’s impeachment.
Nyoro Recalls Support for Gachagua
The Kiharu legislator said he had demonstrated his loyalty by backing Gachagua’s 2022 political ambitions and declining to participate in the 2024 impeachment proceedings against him.
According to Nyoro, however, Gachagua has since continued making him a target of political attacks while allegedly using his allies to criticise him.
Nyoro said the respect he had consistently shown the former Deputy President should not be interpreted as fear or weakness.
Demand for Direct Confrontation
Nyoro challenged Gachagua to address their political differences directly, signalling that he was prepared to respond to the former Deputy President without relying on intermediaries.
His remarks point to growing tensions between the two politicians as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Nyoro Defends People’s Party
The Kiharu MP also took issue with what he described as indirect attacks against the People’s Party.
Nyoro challenged Gachagua to identify the party by name if he had concerns about its activities, accusing him of avoiding a direct confrontation by making what he characterised as subtle references to the political outfit.
The exchange adds to the increasingly competitive political landscape as emerging parties and established political formations position themselves ahead of the 2027 polls.
