Speaking in a video shared on his social media platforms on Monday, September 7, 2026, Owino alleged that there were plans to deploy goons to interfere with the rally scheduled for Sunday, September 13.
The outspoken legislator urged those attending the event to avoid violence, saying previous attempts to intimidate members of the movement had failed to stop their activities.
Owino Threatens to Name Nairobi MPs
Owino also alleged that several Nairobi MPs were being used to incite violence and mobilise goons to disrupt activities associated with the political outfit led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
The Embakasi East MP warned that he would name the politicians during the September 13 rally. He further said he would campaign against the MPs in the 2027 General Election and work to prevent them from retaining their seats in Nairobi.
His remarks add another layer of political tension in the capital as rival political camps intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
Jacaranda Grounds Set for Grand Rally
Owino invited Kenyans from across the country to attend the rally, while noting that organisers would release details on the routes to be used on Friday.
He confirmed that the main event would take place at Jacaranda Grounds in Embakasi East, describing it as the “mother of all rallies.”
The event is expected to provide a major platform for the Linda Mwananchi movement as it continues building its political presence under the leadership of Sifuna.
Call for Peaceful Participation
Despite his strong warning against alleged attempts to disrupt the gathering, Owino urged attendees to remain peaceful throughout the event.
The MP’s comments come as political mobilisation in Nairobi gathers momentum, with different factions positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
