Principal Secretary for the State Department for Wildlife Silvia Museiya has urged residents of Laikipia North to consider President William Ruto’s record when they head to the ballot in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at Doldol Secondary School in Laikipia North on Monday, September 7, 2026, Museiya defended the administration’s focus on the constituency, arguing that residents should recognise government efforts despite the area’s relatively small population.
Museiya emphasised that Doldol is part of Kenya and should not be overlooked because of its population size.
Population Challenges in Laikipia North
The PS noted that Laikipia North is the least populated constituency in Laikipia County but covers the largest geographical area.
According to Museiya, population figures often influence the distribution of public infrastructure, with areas hosting larger numbers of residents tending to receive greater attention when roads, water projects and other services are planned.
She argued that the government under Ruto had nevertheless recognised the needs of residents in the vast constituency and worked to address some of its challenges.
Museiya Highlights Sh20 Million Pledge
Museiya cited Ruto’s previous visit to Doldol, during which he pledged Sh20 million, saying the commitment had since been put to use.
She urged residents to take into account such interventions when assessing the President’s performance ahead of the next election.
Museiya also pointed to the appointment of Principal Secretary Michael Lenasalon as evidence of increased opportunities for people from pastoralist communities under the current administration.
Call to Remember Ruto in 2027
The PS appealed to Laikipia North residents to remember Ruto’s record when voting, as allies of the President step up grassroots mobilisation across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Her remarks come amid heightened political activity in Laikipia, where supporters of the Kenya Kwanza administration and opposition groups are seeking to consolidate their respective bases.
The renewed focus on Laikipia North highlights the growing importance of the constituency and wider county as political parties position themselves for the 2027 contest.
