The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) has begun a nationwide training programme aimed at strengthening women’s participation in politics as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election. The initiative, launched in Nyeri County, marks the first phase of the party’s Training of Trainers campaign and is anchored on DCP’s newly released Her Campaign Manual, a comprehensive guide designed to support women interested in vying for elective office.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 5, 2025, the party emphasized that the programme will provide structured support, practical campaign tools, and essential knowledge to women within the DCP Women League. The manual covers key areas such as campaign planning, voter engagement, communication strategies, and leadership development all aimed at helping aspiring female leaders navigate the often challenging political landscape.
According to the party, public education and capacity-building are crucial components for informed decision-making in political spaces. The statement noted that these trainings are designed to give women not only the technical skills required for campaigning but also the confidence to compete effectively in a male-dominated political arena.
The launch in Nyeri is the beginning of a nationwide rollout, with DCP planning to extend the Training of Trainers programme to all regions in the coming months. The party expressed its commitment to ensuring that women across the country have equal opportunities to influence governance and participate meaningfully in leadership.
The initiative underscores DCP’s broader vision of promoting inclusive politics and supporting women who are ready to challenge traditional barriers and claim their place in Kenya’s political future.
