Speaking after an interdenominational fellowship in Portland City, Oregon, USA, on Monday, September 14, 2026, Gachagua pointed to the large crowds witnessed during opposition activities in Nairobi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Meru and Tana River as evidence of growing political momentum.
“Things are very good. Things are boiling very nicely. They are boiling very nicely from Nairobi,” Gachagua said.
Gachagua praises Nairobi mobilisation
Gachagua singled out the Linda Mwananchi movement’s recent mobilisation in Nairobi, where supporters moved from All Saints Cathedral through parts of the city before proceeding to Jacaranda Grounds for a major rally.
He said the turnout reflected growing support for opposition leaders and claimed that Nairobi was already firmly in their camp ahead of the 2027 elections.
“And I’m so happy because the city of Nairobi has 2.7 million voters. Between myself, my cousin Kalonzo Musyoka, Edwin Sifuna, and Babu Owino, Nairobi is locked. It’s locked,” he said.
The remarks came a day after large crowds escorted Linda Mwananchi supporters through Nairobi’s Central Business District before the movement proceeded towards Jacaranda Grounds amid heightened police presence.
Gachagua has increasingly highlighted public mobilisation as opposition leaders seek to build momentum across the country ahead of the 2027 presidential contest. His remarks signal growing confidence among opposition figures over their ability to challenge President William Ruto and Kenya Kwanza in key political regions.
With the election still ahead, the opposition’s mobilisation efforts are expected to intensify as parties and political formations seek to consolidate support and position themselves for the contest.
