Speaking during a political address in Isiolo on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Nyoro said Ruto should prepare for his eventual retirement from State House and extend to Uhuru the same respect he would expect after leaving office.
“We want President Uhuru Kenyatta to be respected in this Kenya,” Nyoro said.
Turning his remarks to Ruto, Nyoro urged the President to consider the legacy he would leave behind after his term in office.
“And Hon. William Ruto, you should know you will be a retired president next year. And the way you would want Kenyans to respect you when you leave office next year, start by respecting President Uhuru Kenyatta, please,” Nyoro said.
Nyoro accuses Ruto of targeting Uhuru
Nyoro criticised Ruto over what he described as repeated attacks against the former President, arguing that Uhuru should not be treated as Ruto’s political opponent.
“And as we see every time you take the microphone, you insult Hon. Uhuru Kenyatta,” Nyoro said.
The PPK leader said Ruto should instead focus on issues affecting Kenyans, particularly the economy and education.
“I want to tell you this: You are not competing with Uhuru Kenyatta. Your opponent is not President Uhuru Kenyatta,” Nyoro said.
He then directed his criticism towards the state of the economy, saying, “Your opponent is the economy of Kenya which you have destroyed.”
Nyoro also criticised the government over challenges facing the education sector, arguing that the issues affecting schools and learners should receive greater attention than political exchanges involving Uhuru.
His remarks come amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election, with Nyoro having positioned PPK as a political vehicle while continuing to criticise aspects of the Ruto administration.
