United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has kicked off grassroots election sensitisation in Nyeri County as the party prepares for its internal polls scheduled for January 10, 2026.
Elected UDA leaders from the county on Tuesday joined party secretariat officials at Kagumo Teachers Training College to engage members on the upcoming exercise, outlining voting procedures and the importance of participation at the grassroots level.
Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga led the delegation, accompanied by National Elections Board Vice Chairperson Veronica Kiberenge and Director of Logistics Sam Mwangi. The team urged party members to take ownership of the process, saying transparent and credible grassroots elections were key to strengthening the party ahead of the next national election cycle.
The forum attracted several elected leaders, including Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi, Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina, Kieni MP Njoroge Wainaina Chieni and nominated MCA Wanjiku Muturi from Kiambu.
UDA officials said the Nyeri meeting was part of a wider mobilisation drive across the Mt Kenya region aimed at informing members about the rules, timelines and expectations of the grassroots polls. Similar sensitisation forums are planned in other counties in the coming weeks.
Party leaders described the exercise as a critical step in building an informed and active membership base, arguing that strong grassroots structures would shape the party’s leadership and political strategy as the country edges closer to the 2027 General Election.
